About True Tolerance

A principled way to pursue peace without surrendering truth: follow the posts and challenge your beliefs. Those searching for real tolerance change the world.

Why Develop True Tolerance?

True tolerance is needed because differences in culture, religion, and political outlook need not become reasons for conflict, discord, violence, or imposing one person’s view on everyone else. It allows people to live with conviction while treating those who differ with restraint, fairness, and respect.

The Golden Rule

“Whatsoever things, therefore, ye would, that men be doing unto you, so, be, ye also, doing, unto them,—for, this, is the law and the prophets.”
Matthew 7:12 — Rotherham’s Emphasized Bible

This command is active, not passive. It asks us to consider what we would rightly hope to receive—safety, honesty, patience, justice, and dignity—and then to practise those same qualities toward others. True tolerance begins with this deliberate concern for another person’s well-being.

What Tolerance Does—and Does Not—Mean

Tolerance does not mean accepting, approving, or excusing every behaviour or action. It does not erase moral judgment or require anyone to call harmful conduct good. Rather, it refuses to turn cultural, religious, or political difference into hostility. It distinguishes between respecting a person’s dignity and endorsing every choice that person makes.

Clear Standards

  • We do not fight wars. We reject violence as a means of settling national, cultural, religious, or political disputes and seek peaceful conduct toward all.
  • We remain politically neutral. We stay away from political opinions, factions, and controversies that divide people or pressure others to adopt a partisan view.
  • We maintain strong moral boundaries. Compassion does not require participation in, approval of, or silence about conduct that violates clear moral standards.
  • We assign dignity to everyone. Every person deserves humane treatment, regardless of background, belief, nationality, social standing, or response to us.
  • We remember our accountability. Even when patience, respect, or kindness is answered with repeated mistreatment, we do not use that wrong as permission to retaliate or abandon what is right. Each of us has an accounting with the Creator for our own choices and conduct.

Our Aim

Our aim is not a world without standards, but a community in which conviction is joined to peace, moral clarity to compassion, and courage to self-control. By living the Golden Rule, we can disagree without demeaning, hold firm boundaries without hatred, and answer before the Creator with a clean conscience for the way we have treated others.

One global community striving to live by these standards is Jehovah’s Witnesses. We will explore how their faith changes lives, showing the practical effect that Bible principles can have on people around the world.
